In Loving Memory of Callahan.......April 1993 - December 16, 2008

Callahan, our cat of of almost 16 years, is missed by all of us! Over these last few years Callahan has been getting more and more unhealthy so we had to make that extremely hard decision to do what was best on Tuesday, December 16, 2008. We buried him here on the base between the mountain and Rodger's work place. Rodge can look out his office window and see his grave. Knowing that daddy could see his grave everyday seemed to have made it a little easier on the kids.

Here are a few pictures of him that were taken December 3, 2008. I couldn't tell you how many pictures we have of him under our Christmas tree over the years. This seemed to be one of his favorite spots to be during the Christmas season.

He will definitely never be forgotten. We have way too many memories of him.

More Snow Pictures from yesterday

These pictures were taken in the afternoon once it had been snowing for most of the day. It continued to snow a few more hours after these were taken.

Notice the amount of snow on Rodger's truck!

You have to just love snowball fights with Dad when you're a kid!

We all were amazed at the amount of snow we got here yesterday. Of course most of it is melting today. We are home with another snow day so it will be good to get back to school tomorrow since it's our last day before the winter break.

Can you tell the kids have a tall daddy? Who else could make a snowman this tall? Notice there's still plenty of snow on the ground even after using what we did to make the snowman.

Tenna enjoyed the snow just as much as we did. This is her running in the back yard. She didn't want to stay in the house much yesterday; she just kept begging to get outside. :) She would even catch and eat the small snowballs that the kids threw at her.

DESERT SNOW!!!

Ok, I admit, these are not the best photos but we had fun playing in the snow today. It was Tenna's (our boxer) first snow. These were taken in Yucca Valley, CA which is about 40 minutes from our house in Twentynine Palms, CA. These photos are proof that, yes!, it does snow in the desert!

DID WE JUST FEEL OUR FIRST EARTHQUAKE TONIGHT???

YES! We did! (Well, the kids and I did, Rodge has felt a few others.) There were actually 2 in our area tonight! I found this info about one of them: A moderate earthquake occurred at 8:18:42 PM (PST) on Friday, December 5, 2008. The magnitude 5.5 event occurred 26 km (16 miles) WNW of Ludlow, CA. The hypocentral depth is 6 km ( 4 miles).

And I found this info about the other one: A microearthquake... occurred at 8:13:11 PM (PST) on Friday, December 5, 2008. The magnitude 1.2 event occurred 11 km (7 miles) NE of Joshua Tree, CA. The hypocentral depth is 4 km ( 2 miles).

Check out this website to get the latest info on Earthquakes! http://quake.usgs.gov/recenteqs/latest.htm

Savannah's number: 10

HALLOWEEN 2008

Today at school was Crazy Hair Day! Then we had some friends over to pass out Halloween candy and go trick-or-treating with us. Here are a few picture from our day/night. Yes, the Tarantula is real. This is the first time we've seen one in the wild and of all nights to see it, Halloween! It was crawling up a house in our neighborhood! Savannah made up her costume and said that she was Queen of Spiders, so to see the Tarantula on Halloween just made her costume idea even cooler. Guess, we should have had her hold it for the picture. NOT!!!!!!! LOL

Savannah (Queen of Spiders), Caitlyn (Jellyfish), Grayson (Skeleton), & Jordan (Star Wars Clone)

Pumpkin Carving

Here's some pictures of the kids carving their pumpkins. This is always a favorite thing for them to do near Halloween.

Tenna's new shirt

Here's a picture of Tenna with her new shirt. The kids were so excited to get this for her. Tenna seemed to even like it herself.

It says, "DIVA DOG USMC."

VOLS vs UCLA

Yes, we went to UCLA and watched the VOLS. Although we had a blast and were very excited to be at the game we just wish the VOLS could have won the game. There were so many TN fans there that we just felt right at home.

Jordan is 9

I can't believe that my baby is 9 years old. Actually he turned nine the end of September but I'm just now getting around to posting. We celebrated with a basketball party at the Community Center Gym here on the base with a bunch of his friends. Here's a picture of his cake from his b'day party. Of course I can not post pictures from his party because I don't have permission from everyone. We got him a WAVE for his birthday and he was so excited! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JORDAN! WE LOVE YOU!

"Golf Camp"

The week of June 23, 2008 the kids attended golf camp for the first time. They got some great tips on their swing and learned some cool things about golf. The kids were split up into two groups for the camp. Savannah was in the older group and Jordan was in the younger group. The last day of camp the kids and their families got to play a 4 hole game where the kids competed in a best score competition against others in their groups. I am very proud to announce that Savannah won in her group and Jordan was the winner in his group. They each won 5 golf balls and a bag of colored tees. Earlier in the week they had also won some other prizes for some of the putting competitions. They had a blast! Oh, did I tell you that they each got to keep their golf sets which included the bag, 5 clubs, 3 balls, a bag of tees, their cap, and their golf shirt. The clubs were even ordered for their height. What a deal!!!!

"Last Yearbook Page"

Ok, this is the last yearbook page that I'm going to show. I wanted to show this one because of the many layers I used just on one of the tags on this page. Notice the Student Council tag? Well it has 12 or 13 differents items used, layered together just to make this tag. This program really has a lot to work with if you want to take the time with it. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this last page.

"Yearbook I Designed"

As you all know, I usually work every year on my children's school yearbook but last year I actually designed it using a scrapbook book program that I purchased. Anyway, some of you have been asking to see some of the pages that I did. Although I can not show the pages fully because I'm not allowed to show photos of the kids on my site, I did take a page and blocked out the pictures just so that you can see what one of the pages looked like. Here is one from Red Ribbon Week. Let me know what you think. I'll try to post another one later.

All of the pages were 8.5 x 11". It was a 56 page colored yearbook. I had to save this page as a JPEG format to post it here so the quality is not as high as the original page but you get the idea of what the page looked like anyway.

Yes it was very time comsuming because I'm very picky but I'm glad to say it was a great success!

"San Diego Zoo........May 28, 2008"

On May 28th we all decide to go to San Diego and visit the world famous San Diego Zoo. We spent the day and although we saw almost every thing at the zoo there were a few animals that we didn't get to visit because we were running out of time. As with everything else, we really enjoyed our trip to the zoo with the crew from TN.

Timothy, Sherri, Eugene, Beverly, and Sean we love you guys and it really means a lot to us that you all came out to California and visited with us. I don't think none of us will ever forget the many laughs we had during this week and I know that we will always tell the "map" story for many years to come. :) We hope that you can visit us again before we move from this area.

"Las Vegas....May 26, 2008"

On our way home from Hoover Dam, we decided to check out Vegas. No we didn't do any gambling but we did enjoy seeing some of the famous casinos and the famous Vegas LIGHTS!

Here are a few of the photos we have to share with you all.
